Hello – Food Fans!

Welcome to Flavour Files.

My name is Gabby, and I’m an ex-professional chef and British ex-pat living in Dubai. I moved to sunnier pastures with my husband and our two cats in 2019, where I suddenly found myself with a lot more time on my hands. Like many online food curators before me, I decided to set up this blog as a platform for sharing my recipes and kitchen (mis)adventures.

I’ve dabbled a little in professional cooking over the years, and I have learned some tips and tricks, which I’m keen to share with you. I will post mainly recipes, but I will also share my thoughts on kitchen equipment and whether the item in question is worth your hard-earned cash. Seeing as my bookshelves are quite literally groaning under the weight of my cookbook collection, (one can never have too many!) I will also throw in suggestions and share my all-time favourites.

I intend for the recipes that I post to be taken as you wish. You may follow them word-for-word, or you may stray from the instructions. In fact, I encourage you to wander off-piste and learn to improvise to your own tastes.
